Printing From Mail Manager 2010
(Mail Manager 2010 is distributed by BCC Software Inc.)

Note: Some of the screen shots within this document will not be identical in newer versions of the Mail Manager 2010 program, but the general information within this document may still be valid. The following information was written for our "legacy" printer models and may not be valid for our current product line.

Before getting started, please be sure you have added the appropriate Rena Printer Driver to your computer and have completed the following:  

·         Envelope Imager III Drivers: The FlexSystems version of the Envelope Imager III drivers may not function properly with this program. It is recommended that you use the drivers supplied, on floppy disk, with your printer or download the Envelope Imager III driver file (RenaEi3Drv.exe) from our web site.

·        On all Rena printer models except the Envelope Imager III and DA595. Default Reset Printer. Hold down the PROG button while powering on the printer.

·         On Rena DA608/610/612[1]/613[2]/615, XPS80, XPS1000/2000, PS1000/2000 models use the Auto Paper Length key to set and "Local Lock" the paper size (paper width), within the printer. Make sure the printer is measuring your mail piece accurately (Tolerance = +- 4 mm).

1.        Click on the “Open List” button , or press Ctrl+O



  1. Select the “List” of your choice and click on the “OPEN” button.


  2. Click on the Label Design button , or press (F5).



  3. Click on New.

  4. Select the Rena printer model of your choice, from the pull down list.

    Important!
    In newer versions of this program, on the "Printer or File" screen shown below, you will find a new heading labeled "Emulation:". In addition to selecting the Rena printer model of our choice, please be sure to select the choice "Form feed after each label".




  5. Click on Page Setup.


  6. Select the Paper “Size:” of your choice, or use “user-defined” size to define your own.

    NOTE: When using a DA615, define the page height to be a maximum of 2 inches high. When using a DA612/613 (Envelope Imager I/II), define the page height to be a maximum of 1.5 inches high. When using the XPS-80 or Envelope Imager III, define the page height to be a maximum of 3 inches high. 

  7. In the Paper “Source:” box; select the print direction (orientation) of your choice (normal or reverse print direction).

  8. In the “Labels” box, define the dimensions of the label.
    Make sure the label dimensions are large enough to fit the maximum width and height of your largest address. Make sure “number across” and “number down” are both set to 1.

    NOTE: When using a DA615, define the label height to be a maximum of 2 inches high. When using a DA612/613 (Envelope Imager I/II), define the label height to be a maximum of 1.5 inches high. When using the XPS-80 or Envelope Imager III, define the label height to be a maximum of 3 inches high.

  9. In the “Orientation” box, choose portrait.

  10. In the “Margin” box, adjust the margins so the label aligns on the envelope in the area you want the addresses printed.

    NOTE: When using a Envelope Imager III, DA615/613/612, XPS80, XPS1000/2000, PS1000/2000, vertical adjustment of the address on the envelope is done by physically moving the print unit(s) on the printer. Do not try to adjust vertical position by using the top margin setting on this page (leave it at zero), or by using the top margin settings within the printer. In addition, the bottom margin should be defined as zero.

  11. Click on “Save”, and save the page/label design under a name of your choice. Example: Manufacturer: Rena DA612/613.     Product: C10 Envelope
     


  12. Click on OK, to save your page setup.

  13. Click on OK to close the Page Setup window.

 

  1. The Properties window will now be visible again.


 

  1. If you want the label printed in a specific font, click on the “Font” button to select the font of your choice.


    Note: If you select the box labeled “show only printer resident fonts (faster)”, Mail Manager 2010 will be display all HP DeskJet fonts that are loaded onto your computer. Many of these fonts are not resident to the Rena printer. The only fonts that are resident, are the ones shown under the printer’s menu choice Font:

    For example: The DA608’s resident fonts are: Cour12/12bo/12it, Helv07/10/12/12bo/12it/13, TmsRm12, LetGot12, Bru12, OCR-A.

    If a non-resident font is chosen, this font will either be downloaded to the printer or sent as a graphic image, depending on the capabilities of the Rena printer being used and on the font property setting you have selected via the Rena driver.





  2. Click on “OK” to close the “Font” window.


  3. Click on the “general” tab and be sure that in the Form Feed box the choice “after each label” is selected.
    Note: In newer versions of this program, this screen will look different and the "Form Feed" box will not be found under the "General" tab. You will find this choice under the "Printer or File" tab. Click on the "Printer or File" tab and be sure the selection "Form feed after each label" has been selected.



  4. Click on OK to close the Properties window.

  5. You will now be presented with a “Label Designer” screen. Drag and drop the fields that you want in your label design. As each field is placed on the label, make sure the properties (positions, options, alignment) of each field fit your needs. Example: Options = Space after,  Alignment = Left justified


    NOTE: To place constant text (Example: Return Address) on a label, use the field labeled “Constant Text”, located under the heading “Non-presorted Special Fields”.


  6. If you are interested in barcoding, be sure to add the barcode field of your choice to the label design. When the “POSTNET Barcode Properties” dialog box appears be sure to select Graphics in the Options box. Select/unselect any other Barcode Properties you desire.


  7. Click on OK

  8. Click on Save to save the label design under the name of your choice.
    Example: 3 lines + DPBC
    Click on OK to save the label design.


  9. Make sure the label design you just defined is highlighted and Click on Use.


  10. Click on Labels/Reports.
  11. Click on Non-Presorted Labels.

  12. A Preview window will appear showing where the address will be printed on your page (envelope).
    NOTE: When using the Envelope Imager III, DA615/613/612, XPS80, XPS1000/2000, PS1000/2000 the address data should start at the very top of the page in view. This is normal. When using these printer models, the vertical adjustment of the address on the envelope is done by physically moving the print unit(s) on the printer.


  13. Click on Print.

  14. Make sure the proper Rena printer model is chosen, if not select the appropriate model from the pull-down list.


  15. Select the print range of your choice.

  16. Click on the Properties button to change the properties of the printer.
    Example: Click on Device Options to select a different “Print quality”.
    Click on Fonts, to select the method of sending True Type fonts to the printer.




  17. Click Apply and then OK to close the printer Properties box.

  18. Make sure the printer is on-line and that there is material (envelopes) in hopper.

  19. Click on OK to send data to your RENA printer.


How to Modify Your Label Design, Page Design or Printer Settings.

If the addresses didn’t print exactly as you wanted (wrong position, wrong font, wrong print quality, etc), then you will need to modify the Label Design, Page Design and or Printer Settings. All of these changes can be made from the “Label Designer” window.

 

  1. Click on the “Design Label”  button, or click on Labels/Reports, Define Labels, to open the “Label Designer” window.
  2. Highlight the label you want to edit and click on Modify. The label design is now available for you to edit.

 

  1. If changes to the font are necessary, click on the “Font”  button.
  2. If changes to the page design are necessary, click on the “Page Setup”  button. When finished making changes to the page design, be sure to click on Save.
  3. If changes to the printer setup (Example: print quality), are necessary click on the “Print Setup”  button.
  4. When finished making all necessary changes, be sure to save them by clicking on the SAVE button.
